Iowa Bicycle Coalition appoints Troy Carter as Safe Routes to School Director

 

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition announced today the appointment of North Liberty resident, Troy Carter, as their Safe Routes to School Director.  Mr. Carter brings a passion for cycling and many other skills to the organization. Mr. Carter is very familiar with the Safe Routes to School Program, he has  participated in the Walking School Bus program for the last 3 years with his two children at Garner Elementary.    

 

“We are excited about what Troy brings to the program” says Coalition Executive Director, Mark Wyatt. “He has a great skillset working with kids. He will be a good resource for communities who want to see kids become more active.”

 

Safe Routes to School is a rising nationwide initiative to increase safety and walking and biking to school.  If you would like your school to participate, register your school or event at the International Walk to School website: http://www.walktoschool.org/  Registration will give your school access to resources for your event as well as information from the Iowa Safe Routes to School program.

 

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has led the Iowa Safe Routes to School encouragement and education programming since 2007.  The Coalition is headquartered in Coralville, Iowa, but works across the state to encourage more kids to walk or ride bicycles to school.
