After much reflection and consideration, I have decided to leave my position as Executive Director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and embark on a new chapter in my life.
Leading the Iowa Bicycle Coalition for nearly 19 years has been an incredible journey, and I am immensely proud of the progress we have made together. I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support, collaboration, and tireless efforts. It has been an honor to work alongside such passionate advocates.
I take immense pride in our accomplishments, including:
Empowering hundreds of thousands of children with invaluable bike safety education.
Spearheading the successful advocacy for stricter penalties in distracted driving fatalities and the inclusion of distracted driving education in driver education programs.
Expanding our exceptional network of trails, providing more opportunities for outdoor recreation and active transportation.
Leading the charge in adopting and implementing comprehensive complete street policies at the Iowa Department of Transportation, ensuring safer and more inclusive roadways for all.
As I enter this new phase, I have decided to return to my roots in emergency medical services (EMS). The opportunity to serve others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives has always held a special place in my heart.
While I will greatly miss the work we have done together, I am confident that the Iowa Bicycle Coalition will continue to flourish under new leadership. The dedicated team, board, and advocates will ensure the organization’s mission thrives.
As I transition into retirement, I kindly ask for your continued monetary support. Your generous donations have always been instrumental in fueling our initiatives, and they will play an even more crucial role during this transitional period. Your contribution will provide a strong foundation for the incoming Executive Director, allowing them to hit the ground running and continue advancing our mission.
Please know that my transition will be gradual, and the board will provide updates on the search for my successor. I have complete faith that they will find an exceptional leader to advance the Iowa Bicycle Coalition’s vision.
