Break out those bikes, and bundle up!  The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is proud to announce the 2013 Iowa Bike Expo, Iowa Bicycle Summit and RAGBRAI Announcement Party. Last year’s event attracted over 3,000 attendees, with over 60 exhibitors ranging from bike advocacy organizations like Raccoon River Valley Trail Association to bike shops like Bike World.

The Iowa Bike Summit will feature guest speakers, workshops, and break-out sessions on January 25th, 2013 in the Iowa Events Center.   This year we will continue to expand our expertise and knowledge to facilitate a larger, more thriving bicycle culture in Iowa. Tom Huber from Toole Design and Arthur Ross from City of Madison will lead a session on bicycle facility design.  The Iowa Bicycle Summit is geared towards transportation officials, city planners and engineers, and bicycling advocates.   There is a fee to attend with continuing education credits offered.

Make plans to attend the free Iowa Bike Expo event on January 26th, 2013 in Des Moines at the Iowa Events Center. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the best bicycle equipment, optimal riding destinations, and future cycling events. Educational seminars will allow present and future cyclists to get in touch with bike advocacy, find the latest consumer trends, and learn about new places to ride. We are expanding the expo again this year with a 50,000 square foot space for vendors, organizations, and trails groups. Sponsors include the Iowa Department of Transportation, RAGBRAI, Des Moines Register Media Group, and Primal Wear.

After the Expo, attendees can relax and kick back their cleats as the Iowa Bicycle Coalition is excited to host the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party at the Iowa Events Center Vets Auditorium in Des Moines. The evening will feature live music with a special performance by Johnny Holm Band. Other activities include a live auction of amazing cycling equipment, raffles for prizes, and complimentary snacks and refreshments.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. The Iowa Bicycle Coalition builds partnerships, educates Iowans, and helps to establish safe and enjoyable bicycle transportation and recreation networks throughout Iowa.
