In downtown Cedar Rapids lives one of the oldest bike shops in the country. Hall Bicycle Company is also one of the longest-running Trek dealers, as they began carrying the brand the year after Trek was born. What was once a motorcycle dealer now carries the title of “America’s Best Bike Shop” as selected by the industry and their peers.
Kyle Moscrip, the fourth-generation owner, tells us the best part of being in the bicycle business is, “It’s FUN! We get to live our passion every day by helping people find joy in cycling.”
Hall Bicycle is no stranger to the advocacy game and has been supporting local bicycle advocacy and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition for many years. They were one of the original supports of Linn Area Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA), support Linn County Trail Association (LCTA), and help Toys for Tots with bicycle repair and service. They also donate to multiple rides and fundraisers throughout the community.
At the national level, they have been a member of the Trek Advocacy program since its inception. Through this program Halls donates $1 to People For Bikes for every single helmet sold and $1 for every mountain bike tire sold and $10 for every full-suspension mountain bike sold to help fund the national growth of youth mountain biking through Trek’s Advocacy program.
We asked Kyle, why Hall Bicycle supports the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and he responded,

Being located in downtown Cedar Rapids, the store has watched bike lanes and infrastructure develop around them. This plays into their dream for Iowa cycling, as they envision a place where there are more people enjoying bikes; continued growth of available cycling infrastructure with a focus on connectivity and ease of use, and for everyone to feel safe and protected while riding.
To be nearly 122 years, you have to do something special and Hall Bicycle Company has been doing just through their support of bicycling, advocacy, and community.
